Knicks sign Chandler!

@SportsBata ..nuff said

The Knicks were making big moves over the weekend. It’s Official! Knicks signed 7-foot-1 C Tyson Chandler on a sign-and-trade from the Dallas Mavericks on a three-team deal (excerpt below), and acquired PG Mike Bibby off waivers for a veteran minimum ($1.4 Million)! The Knicks signed Chandler to a four-year/$58 Million contract! Knicks C Ronny Turiaf was sent to the Washington Wizards, and unfortunately the Knicks waived PG Chauncey Billups ($14.2 Million contract) under the new amnesty clause. Billups was the soul of the new Knicks, but Chandler is a bigger piece to the puzzle! Now the Knicks can dominate with size, and have quick guards (Bibby + Douglas) on the outside. Zone defense should be able to work flawlessly in the new system.

“To get everybody playing defense,” Chandler said at his introductory news conference on Saturday. – espn

“I feel good,” Bibby said Saturday at the Knicks’ practice facility. “I always wanted to play for [coach Mike] D’Antoni, and here’s my chance.” – espn

Three-Team Trade Specs:

The Knicks sent veteran center Ronny Turiaf, cash considerations and a 2013 second-round pick to Washington. They also dealt second-year guard Andy Rautins to the Dallas Mavericks. Dallas sent a second-round 2012 draft choice to Washington and the draft rights to Ahmad Nivins and Giorgos Printezis to New York. Washington also sent a future second round draft choice to Dallas. – espn

The Knicks also re-signed F/C Jared Jeffries, and signed 1st Round pick Iman Shumpert and 2nd round pick Josh Harrellson!
