Geoffrey Mutai (Kenya) repeats! He rocked the nation in April, crushing the previous world record at the Boston Marathon. Mutai has repeated his excellence, crushing the NYC Marathon record, Sunday. He set a mark of 2 hours 5 mins 6 seconds, bettered the previous mark of 2:07:43 set by Tesfaye Jifar of Ethiopia a decade earlier. He set the world record at the Boston Marathon (26.2 Miles) back in April with a time of 2:03:02, but was revoked of the world record because the course was considered too straight and too downhill. Now, he must focus on the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, and trade his triumph into gold medals!
“I am happy now because even although it was not recognized, I’m happy to be at that level,” Mutai said. “And I know one day, maybe I can come to do something. The course here — it was tough. But the weather was so good. I think I’ll try to maintain myself to prove it right.” – espn
