From Mary J. Blige singing the national anthem to Robert DeNiro narrating eulogies to those lost; the NY Jets season opener (against the Dallas Cowboys) on 9/11 at Metlife stadium will be much more than a game (full excerpt below)! The 10 year anniversary game on Sunday, Sept. 11 8:20PM EST NBC will be heartfelt and extremely emotional. Coach Rex (Ryan) already gave his impression of what to expect.

“It’s different,” Ryan said. “Like a responsibility. Every week it’s my responsibility to make sure our team’s prepared, but I don’t know. It just feels different to me. The significance of it. I think it’s stronger than any game I’ve ever felt. I feel more pressure on this game for whatever reason than any game I’ve ever coached” – yardbarker

Each fan will receive an American flag as they enter MetLife Stadium on Sunday night, and children of first responders will serve as honorary team captains. Bagpipers representing the FDNY, NYPD and PAPD will also perform ”Amazing Grace.”

At halftime, Academy Award-winning actor Robert De Niro will narrate during a moment honoring family members of 9/11 victims. John Ondrasik of Five For Fighting will also perform an acoustic, piano version of ”Superman (It’s Not Easy),” which became an anthem for many after the terrorist attacks. – foxsports
