With less than two weeks left to the 10-year anniversary to NY’s worst day in history 9-11, the NY Jets took a took a moment to reminiscince those they lost on that horrific day! They stopped by to visit the WTC site on Wednesday following the Jets’ annual kickoff luncheon at Cipriani’s Wall Street. Check it out!
“Very humbling experience,” cornerback Antonio Cromartie wrote on his Twitter page. “Just walked out to see Ground Zero. A really heart felt experience. God Bless everyone.”
Added linebacker Aaron Maybin: “Visiting the World Trade Center site with the rest of the D. Powerful experience.”
“Man speechless,” offensive lineman Vladimir Ducasse tweeted. “Was at the World Trade site, unbelievable.”
The Jets looked out at part of the site from a viewing stand and spoke to several construction workers who are there rebuilding the area.
“It was a welcome surprise for the workers there, and a nice morale boost for them,” said Jamie Loftus, a spokeswoman for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
The Jets, whose luncheon raised more than $750,000 for the Alliance for Lupus Research and the New York Jets Foundation, open the regular season at home on Sept. 11 against Dallas in a nationally televised game. – espn
