Jets re-sign Santonio Holmes!
Breaking News: The NY Jets have re-signed WR phenom Santonio Holmes to a five year/$50 Million dollar contract with $24 Million guaranteed! That is the highest guaranteed money ever given to a wide receiver. The contract will not be officially signed until Friday due to residual stipulations left-over from the lock-out. Holmes, 27, made some amazing catches that were game-changers for the Jets last season. His ‘airplane’ TD celebrations were somewhat iconic, and truely representative of the Jets. The contract wasn’t too big, so the Jets will probably still be able to re-sign WR Braylon Edwards who was a big strong receiver for the Jets. Holmes speed and game-changing ability is what thwarted him as a priority.
“It was such a luxury to have both of them last year,” quarterback Mark Sanchez said Tuesday. “It’s almost unrealistic to have that kind of a receiving corps again.” – espn
Upon hearing the news, Edwards posted a message on his Twitter account: “Congrats to Santonio. A great player and great friend.”
