U.S. Women’s soccer advance to World Cup Finals!



U.S. Women’s soccer beat France 3-1 in the World Cup semi-finals, today! Abby Wambach put US ahead 2-1 at the 79′ minute mark with a remarkable header off a corner kick! It is the 3rd World Cup Finals appearance for U.S.A. (won in 1991 and 1999), and first since the dramatic win in 1999 that put Women’s soccer on the map! Lauren Cheney scored a goal right away at the 9′ minute mark to put USA ahead 1-0. Frances’ Sonia Bompastor scored a goal at the 55′ minute mark to tie at 1-1. Alex Morgan gave U.S. a 3-1 cushion scoring a beautiful goal over the head of the French goalie at the 82′ minute mark to seal the deal!
