K-Rod traded to the Brewers

Mets reliever Francisco Rodriguez AKA K-Rod was suddenly traded to the Milwaukee Brewers, last night! His agent, Scott Boras, had posted K-Rod on the free-agent market a couple days ago. The Mets would have had to pay K-Rod $17.5 Million if he had pitched in 55 games this season, so the basicly bankrupt Mets (Madoff scandal) displayed urgency to trade him. The Brewers acquired K-Rod just a half hour after the conclusion of the All-Star game, last night! The Brewers offered two players (to be named later), and a little bit of cash to sign the superstar reliever. The Brewers will pay him $4.9 Million in the deal!

“Francisco has been one of the best relievers in the game for many
years,” Brewers general manager Doug Melvin said in a statement. “He
is a high-quality arm who will be a tremendous asset to our bullpen as we
prepare for the final months of the regular season and playoffs.”

“That is a really big trade. He can really help us, he is a great
player. It definitely gives us a spark. We are in first place now and getting
him gives us a little more help,” Brewers (All-Star game MVP) Prince Fielder said.espn
