Jeter hits 3000!

NY Yankees Derek Jeter brought the House (that Ruth built) down with an epic HR for his 3,000th hit today! The Bronx was roaring, when he tied the game 1-1 (against the visiting Tampa Bay Rays), bottom of the third, with his solo blast! He is the first Yankee to get to 3000 hits, 28th all-time, and the second ever (Wade Boggs, Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Aug 7, 1999) to hit a HR exclamating the milestone! Derek Jeter has cemented himself a Yankee legend! Jeter also went 5-5, and helped the Yankees to a 5-4 win with a tie-breaking single in the eighth inning! Check out the logo for his new T’s below!

”Congratulations, first of all, to Derek Jeter on joining the 3,000 hit club. It is an exclusive honor, achieved by only a select group, that not many people can call their own. It is a monumental achievement,” Boggs said in a statement. ”I had the opportunity to play with Derek when he was a rookie in 1996, and I had no doubts that Derek would reach this milestone. He is a very consistent player and he never deviated from his game.” – foxsports
