Big Tex breaks record and helps Harlem RBI!
NY Yankees Mark Teixeira AKA Big Tex is breaking records on the field, and helping Harlem RBI to build a new facility. Tex already has 21 HR’s this season, and is tied for first in the league lead with teammate Curtis Granderson and Toronto Blue Jay Jose Bautista.
RECORD-BREAKING: Big Tex hit a HR from both sides of the plate, last night, in the Yankees 12-4 victory over the Texas Rangers. He is now tied for first all-time with MLB greats Eddie Murray and Chili Davis; accomplishing that feat 11 times. The Yankees bombed five HR’s in the game, and lead the league in HR’s with 102 for the season! Check out his comments!
“It’s pretty special. Eddie Murray is the reason I’m a switch-hitter,” Teixeira said after belting homers from both sides of the plate for the 11th time in his career in Wednesday night’s 12-4 Yankees win, tying Murray and ex-Yankee Chili Davis for the most such games in baseball history.
“I grew up in Baltimore, and my dad and I loved watching (Murray) play. He also used to say, ‘We’re going to the game tonight, is Eddie going to hit one from the right side or the left side?’ It’s just pretty neat to be a part of that group.” (courtesy nydailynews)
