Songs in A Minor… Ten Years Later

5 Grammy Awards, over 11 million albums sold and 10 years later, Alicia Keys reflects on Song in A Minor with some of the people who made it happen.

We have to be reminded sometimes, of how big an impact Alicia Keys’ music had on R&B in 2001.

She was… Just THAT Chic and Songs in A Minor was such a phenomenal album.

I remember being in summer camp August of 2001 and all the girls wanted to enter the talent show to sing “Fallin.”

I even remember during that summer before I entered high school, I decided that I also loved to sing. I even went to a studio for the first time and sang tracks off of this album. “How Come You Don’t Call Me,” “Mr.Man,” and “Girlfriend” were steadily on repeat.

When I got to High School, I joined the Gospel Choir. I guess you can say that Alicia Keys was the catalyst.

Well, it’s been 10 years. Wow! Check out this video below.
