Donnie Walsh steps down as Knicks GM
Donnie Walsh brought Mike D’Antoni in, and wasn’t much on the xacts in the Melo trade. Well now, due mostly to health issues, Walsh officially resigned his position as the Knicks GM. Walsh will stay on for 2011-2012 as a team consultant. The Knicks passed the April 30th deadline on picking up the fourth year option on his contract. Coach D’Antoni may move sometime in the near future without Walsh around. D’Antoni have had a long standing relationship. Knicks team owner James Dolan released the statement today. “Following a long series of discussions regarding his future role with the New York Knicks, Donnie Walsh and I have mutually agreed that he will be leaving his position … at the end of June,” Dolan said in a statement.
