Hawks down Bulls to tie series!
The #5 Atlanta Hawks led by the re-emergence of Josh Smith took it to the #1 Chicago Bulls 100-88, last night! The Hawks held home-court, and evened the Eastern Conference semi-final series at (2-2). Josh Smith was phenomenal approaching a triple-double with 23 points, 16 boards, and eight assists. Joe Johnson had 24 points, and Al Horford dropped 20 points for the Hawks. Bulls Derrick Rose had 32 points and 10 assists, but on a horrible 12-32 shooting show. A ref blew a crucial call late in the game on Rose [Read excerpt below]. Watch the highlight reel! Referee Bennett Salvatore blew a call late in the game at a crucial part of the game (with 2 1/2 minutes left in the fourth quarter, Hawks leading 90-84) when Rose went for a three and was fouled, the ref blew the whistle, but later changed it to a jump ball. The ref did recognize his mistake, and later apologized. Read the excerpt right here, courtesy foxsports:
”An inadvertent whistle is when a referee blows a whistle and didn’t mean to,” Salvatore said. ”That’s exactly what happened. I blew my whistle and didn’t mean to. I didn’t think it was a foul.”
Bennett changed his opinion after watching a replay.
”It was a foul and I should have called it,” he said. ”I made a mistake.”
