Steelers Mendenhall skeptic of 9/11
When Rashard Mendenhall heard about Bin Laden being killed, he took to twitter. He stirred up controversy with his remarks, yesterday, because of his righteous perspective on a sensitive subject – 9/11. The Steelers are steering clear of his comments. Check out what he wrote on twitter and the Steelers statement, courtesy foxsports:
“What kind of person celebrates death? It’s amazing how people can HATE a man they have never even heard speak. We’ve only heard one side,” Mendenhall wrote, before adding his view on the Twin Towers attack.
“We’ll never know what really happened. I just have a hard time believing a plane could take a skyscraper down demolition style.”
Steelers president Art Rooney II didn’t know what to make of Mendenhall’s comments.
“I have not spoken with Rashard so it is hard to explain or even comprehend what he meant with his recent Twitter comments. The entire Steelers’ organization is very proud of the job our military personnel have done and we can only hope this leads to our troops coming home soon,” Rooney said in a statement.
Speaking from the White House on Sunday, President Barack Obama confirmed bin Laden had been killed in a firefight during a US raid on a compound in Pakistan.
“I can report to the American people and to the world, that the US has conducted an operation that killed Osama bin Laden,” the US commander-in-chief said.
