Pistons honoring soon-to-be ‘HOF’ Rodman
Dennis Rodman will soon be inducted into the NBA Hall Of Fame, and the Detroit Pistons are honoring him by hanging up his #10 jersey in the raftors at halftime of tonight’s game: Chicago Bulls at Detroit Pistons 7:30PM EST. Rodman actually thought the Pistons were pulling an April Fools joke on him. Pistons greats such as: Isiah Thomas, Joe Dumars, Rick Mahorn, Vinnie Johnson, John Salley, James Edwards and John Long will be in attendance. Rodman was a 2nd Round Draft Pick for the Detroit Pistons in 1986. He played with them from 1986-1993. He helped “the Bad Boys” to win a Championship in 1989 and 1990. Rodman was a 7-time All-Defensive First team, two-time Defensive Player of the Year (1989-91), and won two (1988-90) of his five Championships with the Detroit Pistons. The other three he won with the Chicago Bulls (1995-98).
“I thought it was an April Fools’ joke when they called me about it the first time,” Rodman said, per the Detroit Free Press. “I was shocked. I don’t think I should have my jersey retired because I was probably the fifth most important guy on those teams.”
