Recap: Lupe Fiasco Concert at Webster Hall

Last night at Webster Hall, Lupe Fiasco put on the concert of all concerts!

He performed in a 2-hour set that had his fans nodding and waving non-stop all night.

Black Milk opened up for Lupe and won over quite a number of his fans with his energy, flow and sick band.

Before Lupe took the stage, all you could hear were hundreds of people chanting, “Lupe, Lupe, Lupe, Lupe!” In between each song, they continued to chant his name, desperate for more. It’s understandable because, hearing and seeing him live for the first, second or third time, makes you love music that much more.

His fans are die-hard. Some even stood on line at Webster Hall beginning at 11am yesterday morning. The show was already sold out, so they weren’t there bright and early to purchase a golden ticket, they were there ten hours early, just to get inside! Wicked!

He performed classics and he performed new joints off the Lasers album including “Words I Never Said” and “The Show Goes On.” He even brought out John Legend who is featured on the song, “Never Forget You.” He captivated the audience the entire time, accompanied by an amazing band – drummer, guitarist, bassist, singer and dj.

For two hours straight, Lupe delivered true musicianship. After watching a performance like that, one wonders, what would we do without a Lupe Fiasco and why did he have to fight so hard to stay on the label? He is too great of an artist for that.

Of course, at one point the crowd booed Atlantic Records, for all of the past drama between Lupe and the label, but Lupe clarified that “at the end of the day” without Atlantic, there would be no Lasers.

At midnight, Lupe took his bow and left New York City on an emotional high, inspired by the music.

With that said, Lasers is in stores now!! Cop the album. He guarantees that it is amazing.
