Knicks waive Brewer and Azubuike; re-sign Jeffries
The Knicks decided to bring back Jared Jeffries and clean up shop, Tuesday. They waived newly acquired Corey Brewer and recently acquired Kelenna Azubuike, but did agree to buyout their contracts. Brewer was brought over from the Golden State Warriors in the ‘Melo trade, Azubuike in the David Lee trade. Brewer was the 7th pick in the 2007 NBA Draft, but didn’t fan out well. Jared Jeffries was bought out by the Houston Rockets and released late last week. Jeffries was signed by the Knicks in 2006, but released a couple years later. Welcome Back, Jared Jeffries, a nice addition to Stat, ‘Melo, and Mr. Big Shot!
“I’m excited. I love being in New York … and having Amare and now Melo in New York, I heard it’s an awesome environment and I want to be a part of it,” Jeffries told the MSG Network in Orlando Tuesday night at the Knicks-Magic game.
“I try to be a high-energy player and I think at my size at 6-11, it gives us an added dimension. I can guard inside and out. So I’ve tried real hard to stay in shape and I’ll be ready to play,” said Jeffries, who appeared in just 19 games for the Rockets this season.
