Jets clean-up roster

The Jets have parted ways with four good players to allow cap room to keep four great players. Vernon Gholston, outside linebacker Jason Taylor, right tackle Damien Woody, and nose tackle Kris Jenkins have all been released, according to Monday edition of the New York Post. This will save the Jets between $20 Million and $24 Million on their salary cap. That will leave money to re-sign WR Santonio Holmes and Braylon Edwards (pic above), special teams star Brad Smith, and CB Antonio Cromartie who are set to become free agents. One or more of the released players can be signed back for a reduced salary. Vernon Gholston, No. 6 overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, has been a bust since day one.
