Summer of ’86
The ’86 Mets enjoyed all walks of life from sniffing coke to playing great baseball. The ’86 Mets came about the same time coke was going retail on the streets and drug tests weren’t yet prevalent. Dwight Gooden, Darryl Strawberry, Mookie Wilson, Gary Carter, and Keith Hernandez were the core of the Mets that took the Boston Red Sox in Game 7 of the 1986 World Series on a Bill Buckner error. All the players are characters, explosive and ill-willed at the same time.
