Jets Revis wants to recruit Ochocinco
Jets standout CB Darrelle Revis has been trying to convince coach Rex Ryan to recruit Bengals WR Chad Ochocinco.
A few weeks ago, Cincinnati Bengals wide receivers Chad Ochocinco and Terrell Owens expressed their desire to play for a coach like Rex Ryan during one of their segments on The T.Ocho Show. Now, it appears New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis wants to make that dream come true for No. 85.
According to the New York Metro, Revis discussed the possibility of Ocho becoming a Jet next season and appears ready to convince Ryan of acquiring the controversial wideout. Here’s what Revis told the Metro:
“I want Chad to come here and play for us, to be a Jet,” Revis said. “I’ve been in his ear a lot about it this week … I think he could do well here. I’ve been telling him to come here.”
Both Revis and Ochocinco were credentialed for Super Bowl week as the standout cornerback worked for his beloved friend as part of the OCNN (Ochocinco News Network). Ochocinco’s relationship with the Bengals has taken a turn for the worst over the last few weeks after all of the negativity between him and head coach Marvin Lewis. While the team picked up his $6 million option for the 2011 season, Cincinnati could still trade or release Ochocinco without losing any money.
Considering he’s only produced one 1,000-yard season over the last three years, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Bengals part ways with Ochocinco this offseason. With the future of Braylon Edwards and Santonio Holmes up in the air, it wouldn’t be a surprise if the Jets listened to Revis and considered making a move for Ochocinco.
