AFC Championship Playoffs: Jets vs. Steelers

AFC – NY Jets at the Pittsburgh Steelers, Sunday Jan 23, 6:30PM EST CBS. Here come the NY Jets! Just beat Peyton Manning’s Colts and Tom Brady’s Patriots and now onto Roethlesberger’s Steelers. The Jets haven’t won a Super Bowl in 41 years – Super Bowl III, 1968. The Jets made it to the Conference Championship last season and surrendered to the Colts. The Steelers have made it to the Conference Championship 15 times: winning seven and losing seven. History lends itself to the Steelers, but talent and relentlessness give an edge to the Jets. The Jets beat the Steelers 22-17 in Week 15 at Pittsburgh to secure their position in the Playoffs. Both teams played tough that time, and the Jets won. The Jets got back magic man, WR and Kick Returner, Brad Smith who is great on special teams and making big plays. The Jets have to decide whether to play superstar CB Darrelle Revis on Steelers WR Mike Wallace or WR Hines Ward. Wallace is a deep threat that averaged over 20 yards per carry, and Ward is the sure short threat. Jets QB Mark Sanchez cannot throw any picks, and the Jets have to establish some sort of running game early with LT and Shonn Greene as RB’s. Look for Jets WR Santonio Holmes and WR Braylon Edwards to make some game-changing catches, as they have all season. The game will come down to a field goal. Prediction: Jets 27, Steelers 24 (stats courtesy epsn.com)
