“Black Swan” In Theaters
Black Swan opened in theaters this weekend.
According to a Fox Searchlight distributor, the film brought in an estimated $1.4 million from 18 theaters in eight cities.
Black Swan is an original screen play directed by Darren Aronofsky, and its starring roles are played by Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis.
This story is a psychological drama about a professional ballerina, Natalie Portman, who’s life is immersed into her company. Throughout the movie we see how much she tortured by a string of factors, including Mila Kunis’ character.
Prior to the release, critics raved about the film and in one weekend audiences have praised it and suggested major award nominations for the film.
Weeks ago we discovered that there would be a lesbian sex scene between the two actresses, so for some time it was all anyone could talk about.
The most noteworthy part of the production is the grueling amount of preparation it took. Portman and Kunis are not dancers but they trained like they were. Both said that they danced vigorously in the ballet studio for an entire year at several hours a day. Such determination is commendable.
Natalie Portman even lost 20 pounds for the role. Standing at 5’3,” that amount of weight is not only hard to lose, but extremely noticeable once the goal is reached.
Black Swan opens nationwide in two weeks. I recommend that everyone go see it, not only for the dancing but to see two amazing actresses excel at their craft.
Remember, a good film always leaves a lasting imprint.
