The United States is usually the country widely known for censorship, so it’s surprising that Beyonce’s ad for her fragrance, Heat, has been banned from daytime TV in the UK.
The Guardian reported that the Advertising Standards Authority said, “We considered that Beyonce’s body movements and the camera’s prolonged focus on shots of her dress slipping away to partially expose her breasts created a sexually provocative ad that was unsuitable to be seen by young children.”
According to the DailyMail, the ASA received 14 viewer complaints before deciding to cut the ad…
Since when is a mere 14 complaints enough to make a motion for change in a place where thousands of people tune in to daytime television. One too many? I’m not too sure. However, the ad truly is a bit too steamy for the eyes of an innocent child.
