Yankees Get 3 Gold Gloves

The NY Yankees got three Gold Gloves for 2010 at 1st Base, 2nd Base, and SS positions. It was SS Derek Jeter‘s fifth, 1B Mark Teixeira‘s fourth, and 2B Robinson Cano‘s first Gold Glove. Gold Gloves are voted on by coaches and managers on all Major League teams; they cannot vote for their own team. Derek Jeter allowed only six errors and had a career-high .989 fielding percentage, both are best among AL Shortstops. Derek Jeter’s comment on receiving the award, “It is a tremendous honor to receive the Gold Glove award, especially since this recognition comes from managers and coaches for whom I have a great deal of respect.”
