“In The Heights” Closing on Broadway

The Associated Press reported that “In The Heights” will be closing its doors to Broadway at the start of 2011…

In The Heights” is the winner of four 2008 Tony Awards including Best Musical and Best Choreography. Now in it’s third year, The musical tells the story of life in Washington Heights, a community full of hopes, dreams and a lot of pressure as a family is in the midst of change.

“In The Heights” is a great musical because it was the first to bring Latin heritage to the Broadway stage. Even before “Fela!” brought African roots to the the center of New York, “In the Heights” depicted the reality of Manhattan’s hoods. It’s a story we can all relate to and that’s what makes the musical so real and award-winning.

After 1,200 performances, “In The Heights” will end on January 9th. So you still have time to buy tickets and experience the show for yourself.

American Idol winner and recording artist, Jordin Sparks is playing Nina in the musical now until November 14th.
